ABOUT ME
Hello !! I am GAURAV PATI I was born in the wet costal state of Odisha, India and I love to draw and move my characters, hence my love for sequential and moving works. I studied my undergrad in animation at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India and then did my MA Animation at Royal college of Art, London. While my formal education is in animation, my practice extends across multiple mediums, including comics, illustration, and print. I’m interested in exploring how different formats shape the way stories can be told and experienced.

MADHUBANA RA MAYOR (2026)
my work in print, has majorly veered towards sequential narrative work, working in comics and book illustration projects. here below are a few samples from my recent works.

NIRJARA
My Design project film during my undergraduate degree at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. It went on to screen across multiple festivals and wining several laurels - some of the highlights are Silver conch award at MIFF, Mumbai International Film Festival 2024, Representing India at the Digicon6Asia festival Japan, 2nd prize winner at Animafantasia in Romania and Finalist at the Silk road film festival, Turkey..
some animated clips clumped together, showcasing the different visual flavours and styles I can acheive with moving images.
MIGRANT BRICK KILN WORKERS
I directed and animated a 6 minute PSA style film (two parts of 3 minutes each) as part of a documentary project with HAQ: Centre for Child Rights, a human rights organization based in India.
Through these short animated films I explored the lives of brick kiln labourers across Rajasthan, focusing on their journeys of survival, issues around documentation and rights, and the risks they face. The films were designed as educational tools, raising awareness in the community.
Following is a collection of comics done during my time studying Bachelors of Design at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, It employs usage of ink on paper later filled in with colours digitally. It showcases my early love for sequential narratives and experimenting with mood and genre.
